At home with Freya Davis

We thought it would only be fitting to properly introduce our founder and interior designer Freya so that you can get a better idea of who she is and what makes her tick.

We have asked Freya a few questions so that you can get to know her a little better.

Favourite Colour:

Green, In particular deep green.

How would you label your design style:

I love the relaxed Australian coastal feel and have implemented snippets of this style into my own home mixed with elements of island luxe. I love using natural raw timbers, textured materials, earthy tones and lots of greenery.

What’s the latest purchase you have made for your home:

Shopping for myself is a rarity these days as I have two children who I love to spoil. However I did manage to slip in a little bit of RNR online shopping and purchased a few new vases for my living room. It’s nice to freshen up the little vignettes around the place.

Favourite piece in you house right now:

Ooooh this is a hard one. Probably my solid timber dining table with bench seat and black wishbone chairs. The timber has a slight pinkish tinge and all of the natural imperfections of raw timber which I love.

What do you love most about your job:

Seeing the joy in clients faces when their schemes come together and are installed. These moments make that hard work worthwhile.

I also love the sourcing and design phase. My buying background comes into play and I am in my element.

What are your top interior predictions for 2021:

An emphasis on sustainable design continues to play a key role leading into 2021. The use of natural materials and elements from wood and stone right through to recycled and re-purposed materials.

Thoughtful, calm and well considered layouts and decoration are also at the forefront of 2021 creating spaces that are practical yet beautiful.

We will see more of those green tones coming through in colour pallets from soft mint to light and dark greyish green to saturated bottle green as well as darker shades of wood.

What do you like to do outside of work to relax:

I love to spend time in my garden. Not only does it allow me time with my children but it gives my mind the opportunity to refresh.

When you were younger, what did you want to be:

I always wanted to work in the design industry. Originally in fashion, which I did for many years as a fashion buyer prior to transitioning to interiors.

What’s playing on your speakers right now:

eek, I have a three year old that loves the Wiggles haha…. however when I am allowed to sneak in some me time I have been enjoying listening to my Spotify indy playlist.

What would you like to achieve in the next 10 years:

I would love to see the continued success of my business with the addition of a few exciting projects I have in my to do list.

Can you tell us something that people will be surprised about you:

My husband and I spent two years overseas in which we spent a large chunk of our time living and working in the French Alps. We ran a large chalet, cooking for and hosting up to 20 people each week. We are avid snowboarders and spent a lot of our time in the fresh air of the mountains.
